About David Edwards
David brings a genuine, warm, and compassionate presence to his work that is grounded in real-world experience and backed by evidence-based practice and modern neuroscience. He believes that life’s struggles are made harder by the shutting down and ignoring of important parts of ourselves, and he is driven to see others reach their potential. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or career concerns, we can often find understanding, peace, and clarity in reconnecting our heads with our bodies. Genuineness, confidence, play, compassion, and passion can only reenter our lives when we honour every part of who we are.
David is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Not your typical clinical counsellor, David was originally trained as a Geoscientist and brings a wealth of life experience to his practice. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, he worked for several years in mining camps in Canada's remote north. He subsequently spent time navigating helicopters in support of mapping operations, and working in both the information technology and satellite imagery industries, before realising his passion for helping others and entering the world of counselling psychology.
In addition to his experience counselling in non-profit and private practice, David has worked as a career advisor for the University of British Columbia where he has helped students and alumni to align their interests and values with their career decisions. David continues to be involved in UBC career-related research, and also leads mental health literacy and leadership groups for high school students.
