Group counselling for anxiety can be helpful in sharing experiences and ways of coping, and assist with learning ways of better connecting with others. Anxiety often leads to withdrawing from others, so a group context can offer a much-needed way of getting support with people having common challenges. Anxiety comes in many forms and you may experience social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, or even phobias.
People who experience Social Anxiety often feel negatively judged by others, which can lead to feelings of being inferior, inadequate, and embarrassed. It may also be difficult for people to be in public around others causing avoidance of social situations.
Those who struggle with Generalized Anxiety have ongoing worry and tension, and often see worries and problems in every situation. Irritability, muscle tension, and trouble concentrating are additional symptoms of generalized anxiety.

Depressive symptoms often involve having a low mood, lack of motivation, and loss of interest or pleasure for a couple of weeks or longer.
Some of the other symptoms of depression can be difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, weight loss or gain, avoidance of social situations, and recurrent thoughts of suicide. Some people experience depression just in the winter months, which they may need to seek support for during this time too, which group counselling may be a viable option for those who work well or want to benefit from the group dynamic and social support.
Meditation and mindfulness have been found to help reduce stress, improve emotion regulation, manage adverse symptoms of many mental health issues, improve one's general happiness, peace of mind, and satisfaction in daily life. The process of mindfulness and meditation activates regions and circuits of the brain that help to integrate and manage areas that are greatly responsible for emotional disturbances and automatic thoughts. Frequent engagement in meditation can literally strengthen the neural connections in your brain to improve your resilience and ability to cope with current and future challenges.
Counselling need not only address prevention and repair of mental health concerns. It can also be used to further enhance one's happiness and peace of mind.
