About Morgan McKusick
Many of us experience events or periods in our lives that leave us struggling to accept ourselves, facing challenges in our relationships, or feeling lost, overwhelmed or helpless. Morgan understands that exploring and sharing our inner world can be intimidating, scary or even exciting at times. Other times it can be difficult to feel anything at all. Morgan offers a genuine and warm presence during the first steps of therapy as she learns who you are as a person - your story, dreams, pain, strengths, boundaries and goals. She welcomes laugher, joy and acceptance of your authentic self into the therapeutic journey while also inviting you to learn and explore new things along the road.
Morgan has a MA in Counselling Psychology from UBC, and enjoys music, writing and creativity. She draws from her background as a yoga teacher to help clients understand their embodied experience and become aware of how our bodies and nervous systems can be affected by our experiences and emotions. Morgan believes that therapy isn’t one size fits all, but unique for each individual. She encourages an open dialogue every step of the way as she works with you to grow compassionate awareness and empowerment in the face of past and present challenges.
Morgan has experience working with both youth and adults facing day-to day emotional and relational challenges, life transitions, and various forms of trauma, including sexual assault. She integrates a range of therapeutic techniques, skill building, including psycho-education,creative expression, mindfulness and movement. She will also work with you to find concrete ways to bridge therapy and the outside world, which may include use of concrete strategies, journaling, art, or trying new ways of behaving or communicating.
