Wellspring offers online individual counselling across British Columbia. In-person sessions are available in Vancouver by appointment with select clinicians. For online appointments outside BC, start with our province and territory guide to find the appropriate clinicians and booking options.

Space to work on what matters to you

Individual counselling is a working relationship between you and a therapist. You can explore difficult thoughts and feelings, understand patterns, develop practical skills, work through experiences, and make choices that fit your values.

You may arrive with a specific concern or a general sense that something needs attention. Your therapist can help you clarify your goals and develop a plan together. Individual therapy can also support personal growth, relationships and direction in life.

Ways we can work together

Our clinicians bring different training and ways of working. Your therapist may use one primary approach or draw on several methods within an integrative approach. Ask how the proposed work fits your concerns and preferences.

See each therapist’s profile for their own approaches and areas of focus. The therapy directory includes further options such as ACT, parts work, Narrative Therapy and more.

What to expect

A first conversation about fit

A free 15-minute consultation is an opportunity to ask questions about the clinician’s experience, approach, appointment format and availability. It is an introduction, separate from a paid therapy session.

A plan you develop together

In therapy, you can discuss what has been happening, what you hope will change, and what you want your counsellor to understand. Agree on priorities, pace and ways to review progress. The number of sessions and outcomes vary.

Choose a therapist your way

Use the team filters to explore location, counselling type, area of focus, gender, language and approach. Look for clinicians who list Individuals, then read their profiles and discuss fit in a consultation.

For in-person appointments, confirm Vancouver office availability with the chosen clinician. For online sessions, choose the province where you will physically attend.

Common questions

Can I work on relationships in individual counselling?

Yes. You can explore your own relationship experiences, communication, boundaries and patterns in one-to-one sessions. Couples counselling involves working together with a partner and has its own service options.

How do I choose an approach?

Start with your concerns and preferences, then ask a therapist how they would approach the work. You can discuss whether you prefer practical skills, experiential work, reflection or a combination, and which methods the clinician is trained to use.

What are the fees and insurance arrangements?

Review our current fees and policies. If you plan to claim extended health benefits, check the clinician’s designation against your plan’s requirements before booking.

Can I book online or in person?

Online appointments are available across BC and through eligible clinicians in other listed provinces and territories. In-person appointments are currently offered only in Vancouver, by appointment through select counsellors. Confirm the format and availability before booking.
