“The journey to a fulfilling relationship starts here. Are you ready to take the first step?”
Premarital counselling
Preparing for marriage can bring excitement, questions and important conversations about the future. Premarital counselling offers space to understand each other’s needs, explore your relationship and talk about what matters most to you.
With your counsellor, you can practise communicating, work through differences and consider how your individual histories and shared hopes shape your relationship.
Sessions are available online across BC and in person in Vancouver by appointment with select counsellors. Meet our counsellors and confirm couples counselling availability before booking.
Conversations worth having
- Explore your relationship: Consider your strengths, values and expectations for marriage, family, finances and the future.
- Practise communication: Share what matters to you, listen to each other and discuss difficult topics with greater care.
- Navigate differences: Notice how disagreements unfold and explore ways to respond more constructively.
Understand the patterns between you
Your counsellor may invite you to slow down conversations, notice the feelings and patterns that arise, and practise new ways of responding together. The work is adapted to your concerns, goals and your counsellor’s training.
What you can work on together
- Shared understanding: Explore each partner’s needs, values and expectations.
- Communication: Practise expressing concerns and listening to one another.
- Conflict patterns: Recognize recurring difficulties and consider ways to respond.
- Future decisions: Discuss the choices and transitions ahead of you.
