WELLSPRING COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Explore how to move toward what matters to you while making room for difficult thoughts and feelings. Mark Waldbillig draws on ACT in his individual counselling.
What does ACT focus on?
ACT combines acceptance and mindfulness with values-guided action. It aims to build psychological flexibility: responding to the present situation while choosing actions that reflect what matters to you. Acceptance here does not mean approving of mistreatment or giving up on change.
You might explore how you respond when an uncomfortable feeling or thought shows up, identify a value you want to live more fully, and choose a manageable step in that direction. The approach can include conversation, reflection and experiential exercises.

What could you discuss in a consultation?
- Which patterns or situations you would like to change.
- What matters to you in work, relationships or daily life.
- How Mark balances practical steps with exploring your experience.
- Whether his approach and the session format feel like a good fit.
You do not need to arrive with clear values or a plan. Understanding what you want from counselling can be part of the conversation.
Questions before you book
Does acceptance mean I should tolerate a harmful situation?
No. In ACT, making room for internal experiences is different from agreeing to harmful circumstances. Discuss your situation and choices with your counsellor.
Does Mark offer couples therapy?
Mark’s current Wellspring service is individual counselling. For couples, use the team filters to compare clinicians who offer couples sessions.
