Effective, Evidence-Based Virtual Therapy
Online Counselling & Psychotherapy Across British Columbia
Founded in 2016 by Alistair Gordon, MA, RCC, UBC Adjunct Professor, published author and developer of CorMorphosis™ Psychotherapy, Wellspring offers online counselling and psychotherapy across British Columbia. Individual, couples and family options vary by clinician.
Meet from a private space with a reliable internet connection. Our Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) bring different approaches to anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, relationship concerns and personal growth. A consultation can help you decide whether online sessions and a particular counsellor fit your needs.
Compare counsellors with the manual filters or explore Wellspring AI matching. You can compare counselling type, gender, language, approach and area of focus. A free 15-minute consultation is an introduction to discuss fit; regular therapy sessions are separate paid appointments. See fees and policies.
Attending from outside BC? Use our province guide, including the Ontario-specific counsellors and booking links. Tell your counsellor where you will physically attend each session.

Counselling and Psychotherapy: What’s the Difference?
In British Columbia, the terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably to describe evidence-based therapeutic care provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors.
Some people use the term psychotherapy to describe deeper or longer-term work, while counselling may refer to more focused or short-term support. At Wellspring, our clinicians tailor the depth and approach of therapy to your goals—whether you are seeking practical strategies, emotional processing, or meaningful personal change.
Why Seek a Counsellor or Psychotherapist ?
A counsellor or psychotherapist can help you manage life’s challenges and improve your mental health whether through coping and problem-solving, or exploring and transforming through a deeper level of analysis and interventions to shift the emotional patterns within your psyche.
A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Psychotherapist, or Psychologist in British Columbia can effectively help you with challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, and chronic stress, or even just guidance and personal growth. We offer science-based therapy and self-development tailored to your needs.
What Does a Therapist Do?
A counsellor or psychotherapist is a trained professional who helps people with mental health issues. They use a variety of therapeutic methods to support individuals facing challenges or wanting self-development. Unlike friends or family, therapists are skilled in techniques that promote healing and personal growth.
If you are struggling with problems like depression, anxiety, or PTSD, or if you need help with everyday life, a psychotherapist can provide a safe and caring space. They can assist you with processing your feelings, transforming core beliefs, and working towards positive change in life and relationships.
The Benefits of Working with a Counsellor or Psychotherapist
Counselling and Psychotherapy provides valuable help in facing life’s challenges. It can increase self-awareness and encourage personal growth. Here are the main benefits of working with a counsellor or psychotherapist in BC:
- Managing Stress and Anxiety: Therapy can help individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm develop practical coping strategies and greater nervous-system regulation. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness teach individuals to overcome challenging moments and become more resilient.
- Enhancing Relationships: Many people go to therapy to work on their relationship problems. Counseling can help you communicate better, resolve conflicts, and understand each other more clearly, leading to healthier personal and professional relationships.
- Healing from Trauma: For those impacted by trauma, approaches such as EMDR therapy and trauma-informed psychotherapy can help process painful memories and restore a sense of safety. A skilled therapist will help you work through painful memories, allowing you to move forward.
- Building Self-Esteem and Confidence: Therapy helps you think about yourself and discover yourself. It can show you limiting beliefs and help you make your self-worth. Over time, this process can boost your confidence and encourage you to chase your goals.
- Promoting Personal Growth and Fulfillment: Psychotherapy is not just for solving problems but also for learning about yourself. Therapy can help you find a fulfilling life by exploring your values and setting essential goals.

Testimonials
Mr. Gordon is someone that captures the spirit and the heart of active engagement. He is empathic, genuine and incorporates action and creative problem solving into his practice. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Gordon as an effective career and personal counsellor.
I had no experience with therapy and was unsure of the whole process. Alistair made everything very accessible and unintimidating. It was clear that he puts quite a lot of effort and preparation into every session. I'm so glad that I decided to do this, and could not have asked for a better person to help me with this. I would highly recommend Alistair to anyone who has ever thought that they might benefit from talking to a professional.
I am a young professional which for a long time now, has struggled with anxiety, insecurity, and difficulty in finding effective life coping mechanisms. Alistair was referred to me by a friend and upon the first meeting, I found Alistair to be empathetic, compassionate and intuitive. I have now been seeing Alistair regularly for 6 months and through that time my anxiety has significantly decreased, I have found effective methods of dealing with stress, found support dealing with identity issues, as well as finding inner strength to get through a tough break up. Alistair again and again, went the extra mile -thank you Alistair for your candor, openness and a safe space to get support. Thank you for playing such a large role in keeping me healthy and positive.
I have been working with Alistair Gordon as my counsellor at Wellspring for almost 6 months now and cannot begin to tell you how far I have come with his help. I have tried working with other counsellors and therapists in the past but never really found one that clicked for me. I always felt judged, unsupported, and rushed at those appointments until I booked my first appointment with Wellspring and with Allistair. To anyone on the fence about booking an appointment or engaging in therapy: if you are willing to do the work, you couldn't ask for a better partner in your healing journey.
When I decided to find a counsellor, I tried to find someone that I could relate to, someone that is like-minded and down-to-earth and with Alistair I really found the right person. He uses an integrative approach, showed me techniques to relax and get aware of my emotions, and helped me see things in a new perspective. Of course this is an ongoing process but I enjoy meeting and working with Alistair every time. The downtown office is a very neutral place - not too intimate, not too clinical - which is helpful to overcome apprehension, especially the first couple of times. What I find remarkable is that Alistair almost always knows what I'm trying to say, even if I can't put it into words. Working with Alistair helped me a lot and it was the right decision to put my trust in him.
Alistair really cares about you the person, and I could really feel him trying to tackle my challenges. He was also very available for off-session contact via text and email. I think he did a great job with confronting me where I needed it. Alistair always could remember the important peoples' names in my personal life, which really helped with talking about my problems. I really felt like I was talking to a friend.
Alistair is an awesome counsellor. He has been so helpful in working with me through some tough times in my life. He's always been available to chat with me in-between sessions. I'd recommend Alistair to anyone - he's really the ideal counsellor in my view.
I enjoy how sessions are collaborative where I can take the lead for the direction of what we talk about, and at the same time I know that Alistair will offer helpful guidance and insight along the way. I also like how we focus on the future instead of just the past. I find this to be empowering and helpful to move forward in life.

I have always felt very comfortable with Alistair. He has a calming presence, and you can tell he cares about being the best counsellor for you. He helps you with all aspects of your concern, and is always able to help me find a solution to the problem I'm having.
Alistair is an exceptionally talented counsellor and has always demonstrated strong ethics, great compassion, wisdom and respect for others. I highly recommend him as a counselling practitioner.

Beginning therapy doesn’t require certainty—just curiosity and a willingness to explore support.
You’re welcome to book a free 15-minute consultation to speak with a Registered Clinical Counsellor to learn how we can help.
Practical questions about online counselling
What is the free 15-minute consultation for?
It is a brief virtual conversation about fit, your goals and practical next steps, rather than a full counselling session. You can ask about the clinician’s approach, availability and provincial eligibility. Use our free consultation checklist to prepare your questions.
What do online sessions cost?
Fees and appointment lengths vary by clinician and service. Review our fees and policies, and confirm the current price and duration in Jane before booking.
Can I use extended health benefits?
Coverage depends on your plan and the individual clinician’s professional designation. Confirm eligibility with your insurer before booking. Wellspring provides receipts and does not bill insurers directly.
How do I choose a therapist?
Compare the team profiles by areas of focus, approaches, languages and provincial eligibility. A consultation gives you a chance to ask questions; you do not need to choose a therapy approach first.
