WELLSPRING COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY
Substance use and addiction counselling
A compassionate conversation about alcohol or drug use can be a starting point for deciding what you want to change and what kind of help you need.
Talk about what is happening without a label
You may be questioning how substance use affects your mood, relationships, work or sense of control. You do not need to decide on a label before asking for help. In a consultation, you can discuss your concerns, the changes you are considering and whether individual counselling is an appropriate part of your care.
The conversation can include triggers, coping patterns, relationships, emotional difficulties and practical sources of support. Your counsellor can discuss the scope of their service and whether additional care is needed.

Choosing the right level of care
Individual counselling is different from medical withdrawal management, residential treatment and medication services. Wellspring does not advertise those services on this page. Some people benefit from counselling alongside medical care, specialised treatment or peer support.
Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. If you may be physically dependent or have had withdrawal symptoms, speak with a medical professional before reducing or stopping use. Seek urgent medical care for severe symptoms. A consultation with a counsellor is not a medical detoxification assessment.
Questions before you book
Do I need to know my treatment goal before contacting you?
No. You can start by discussing what concerns you and what you want help understanding. The counsellor can explain whether their service fits your needs.
Can counselling replace medical withdrawal care?
No. Counselling and medical withdrawal care serve different purposes. Ask a healthcare professional about medical needs and discuss any existing treatment with your counsellor.

Choose the right person and location
Wellspring’s only current in-person office is in Vancouver, by appointment and through select counsellors. Online options depend on where you will physically attend sessions and the clinician. Use our Canada province guide to find the right route.
A free 15-minute consultation is a short introduction to discuss fit. Regular therapy appointments are separate, paid sessions. Check fees and policies and confirm coverage for the individual clinician’s designation with your insurer.
